The Difference Between Consistent Income and Financial Security

All the while that I was building my first coaching business, I was striving for what I thought at the time was a consistent flow of income.

I desperately needed to know that things were working, in other words, that enough money was coming in regularly and that I wouldn't have to worry anymore.  

So I invested money that I didn't have into working with business and mindset coaches, all of whom I believed held the secret that would guarantee me a consistent flow of paying clients.

In fact, my need was so great that I also invested both my savings and credit into money-making schemes that promised high returns and passive income.

The result?

Just a mountain of debt that eventually I could no longer keep up with.

You see, consistent income and financial security and freedom are two completely different things.

Consistent income is a circumstance.

Financial security and freedom are feelings.



And just because you have one, does NOT mean that you have the other.

I’ve coached many people who had a consistent flow of income and yet were not financially secure or free within themselves.

And on the flip-side, the time that I had absolutely nothing was the time when I felt the most financially free. 

That's because a lack of financial security or freedom is not caused by a lack of income.

A lack of financial security or freedom is caused by a lack of belief in one's worth or abilities.  

A person who holds a belief that their value or abilities are below what is required for the amount of money they want to be making is not going to feel financially secure or free, regardless of how much money they are earning. 

Looking back, I now understand that what I was really striving for was the feelings of security and freedom that comes from knowing that I had value, and that I was worthy of earning plenty of money just through being who I was and doing what I loved to do.

That sense of security and freedom you are striving for, you will not get through making more money - you get it from releasing the self-judgements about your worth and value that you are either consciously or subconsciously holding onto. 

Trust me, I know from personal experience. 

For years I chased the money thinking it would free me from the feeling of shame that I was trying to run away from, until I couldn't run anymore and was forced to look that shame square in the eye.

With no income at all, I - my soul - became financially free of self-judgements about my worth, and financially secure within my self and my ability to create income. 

When I stopped chasing the money and did the work to create the feelings I was really seeking, the money literally started chasing me! 

The following summer I made more money than I'd ever made before, in fact there were some days that I was so busy with work that I didn't even have time to cook!

I can promise you that the more you let go of self-judgements, the more you embody self-worth and belief in your value and abilities, the easier it will be to create the income of your dreams in ways that feeling truly fulfilling to you.
