How To Achieve Your Goals & Dreams More Easily
"Your desires are the contexts that your soul has chosen for you to discover who you really are."
~ Aimee Charlene
I've always been an ambitious person.
I've never been content with average, nor been one to settle for anything less than what I really wanted. For example:
I wanted to go to a top-performing university, so that's what I did.
I wanted to get a 1st in my degree, and I succeeded.
I wanted to be my own boss, doing something I loved with no limits on how much I could earn, and I refused to give up even when my first attempt failed.
I wanted to be healthy and in great physical shape, and so I am.
But through the journey of dedicating my life to pursuing my goals and dreams, I have learnt that what I thought were my goals, were not my real goals at all.
You see, very often, when we strive towards achieving something, what we don't realise is that what we are actually striving towards is a feeling, rather than an accomplishment.
We assume things like,
'I'm going to feel so free when I've hit that income goal'
'I'm going to feel much more confident and successful once I get my first big client'
'I will feel way more secure once I've got more money saved up.'
So we strive and hustle and chase our goals in the hope that once we achieve them, then we will feel the way we long to feel, which can either lead to a lack of fulfilment or feelings of disappointment depending on how successful you are along the way.
That's why I want to offer you a radical new way to relate to your dreams and desires that leads to a sense of continuous fulfilment no matter how successful you are, and it's this:
Your dreams and desires are not the end goal.
Your real end goal is alignment, and your desires are the signposts towards that.
Alignment is the state in which your perception of who you think you are is in alignment with the truth of who you are.
You have your true, unchanging identity as a soul, but most people, instead of thinking of themselves in this way, they think of themselves as such and such a person who is of a certain nationality, certain economic class, with pre-defined limits on what they can achieve, and most importantly, ideas about what they are worth.
It's all these false ideas and perceptions about who one is that causes the absence of the feelings that people spend their lives searching for: freedom, confidence, success, security, joy, love... the list goes on.
Conversely, the more one releases their perceptions about who they are, the more they move into alignment with their true self, and the more they experience all the feelings they were hoping and striving for in the first place.
Your soul's deepest and greatest longing is simply for you to be who you really are.
Which is why it gives you goals and dreams - to show you the way towards that.
Rather than asking yourself what you need to do in order to achieve your goal, ask yourself who you need to be.
The greatest thing that has ever come from me pursuing my goals and dreams was not the achievement of the goal - it was who I became in the process.
By pursuing success, I discovered how to feel free within myself regardless of how much I was earning.
By refusing to give up on my dreams, I discovered how to value myself without needing external validation.
By having the goal for my body to look in shape, I learned how to love my body regardless of what it looked like.
Although I didn't realise it at the time, those were always the real goals.
So rather than focusing on your goals and dreams and what you need to do in order to achieve them, focus instead on how you would need to perceive yourself that is different to how you perceive yourself now.
Because the magical part about it all is that the more you do the work of aligning with your true self and thus creating the feelings you were hoping your desires would give you, the more quickly and easily your desires actually come true.
Faithfully,
