How To Turn Your Passion Into Profit

"When you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life."

~ Marc Anthony

Financial freedom is typically understood as being the state in which a person is free to do what they want with their time whilst earning enough money to cover their living expenses, and the way I see it, there are 2 main ways that one can achieve this:

1) Create passive sources of income through investments, delegated businesses, savings, property etc, that do not require much time and thus that time can be spent on chosen things not related to earning money

2) Successfully monetising and earning money through doing the things you most enjoy and would want to spend your time doing anyway

Of course, a hybrid of the two is certainly possible, however, what I have noticed is that over the years and especially since the 2020 pandemic, there are more and more people who deeply desire - and have decided to create - the latter:

A career and income based around one's true passions.

This was exactly what one of my clients, Nina, wanted for herself.

When she came to me, Nina was an aspiring travel blogger, but she was holding herself back from really going for her dream of taking her blog full time.

She came from a highly successful, academic family, and she felt that what she was pursuing - "making money by travelling the world" - didn't seem like a real job in comparison to those of her siblings.

She felt that she was less worthy of the love and respect of her family because she had chosen an "alternative" path to them.

She was afraid they would not approve of her career choice, so she was keeping it out of sight and not fully sharing it with the world in the way she really wanted - or needed in order to be successful at it.

During our conversation, my intention was not to help her to make money so that she could feel better about herself and be more confident in what she was doing.

My intention was simply to help her to feel better about herself and be more confident in what she was doing - in the knowing that that would ultimately lead her to making more money.

So that's what I did. I helped her to release the shame she was carrying and to free herself of the fear of rejection she may encounter.

I never anticipated how much of a difference it was going to make to her, so quickly.

Within 2 weeks of our one conversation, she told me that she was openly calling herself a travel blogger (even to her family), she had been far more productive and launched 4 new paid products.

All of this meant that she had made her first bit of profit as a travel blogger, received 4000 more page views than normal and her social media engagement was up 10%.

This is the power of releasing fear and shame.

By overcoming her fear, Nina no longer had any need to hold herself back, so she got into action and those actions led to tangible results.

This is why transforming your reality always starts with transforming who you are being.

So if you want to know how you too can turn your passion into (greater) profit, just ask yourself this question:

What would I be doing differently if I were no longer afraid of failure, rejection, being seen or other people’s opinions?

And not just what would you be doing differently, but HOW would you be doing things differently?

How would you speak differently? How would you show up differently? How would you position your offers differently? How would you introduce yourself differently?

For it's not just what we do that matters, it's how and why we do them.

Most likely, the things that you would do differently and how you would do them are things that would result in you earning more money, or earning it in a more fulfilling way.

Financial freedom is not a lifestyle, it’s a state of being in which you do not feel worried about how to make money because you trust in your ability to do so regardless of circumstance.

That trust comes from knowing your worth and having the courage to share that worth with the world - because you do not fear how you’d feel if you fail, get rejected, be seen by a larger audience or upset some people along the way.

Financial freedom is freedom from those fears.

A lifestyle you love in which you earn money in a fulfilling way without having to exchange your soul is the beautiful result of that.
